Cameroonian researchers concluded that the extract of Irvingia gabonensis, a West African fruit could have a dramatic slimming effect. But be careful with this news, it would not be the first time that expectations about a remedy for weight loss are finally dashed.
Dr Oz African Mango or African Mango is a fruit mass consumed in West Africa. Laboratory studies indicated that the seed extract may have the ability to inhibit fat production by certain effects on certain genes and enzymes that regulate metabolism.
A team of researchers from the University of Yaounde (Cameroon), led by Dr. Julius E. Oben, has conducted a study (according to them, the first thing done in relation to this statement) on 102 adults, the results have been published by the journal "Lipids in Health and Disease". The company Gateway Health Alliances, Inc., California (USA), partly funded the research.
The sample of volunteers, all overweight adults were randomly divided into two groups: one took the extract and the other a placebo twice daily for 10 weeks. Participants continued their routine activities without any special diet or physical activity.
After the expiry of the above 10 weeks, we compared the weight of the participants with whom he had before starting each test. The result was indeed dramatic: those who had ingested the placebo barely altered his weight, but those taking the extract had been reduced by an average of 12.7 kilos. Furthermore, the latter had decreased blood levels of sugar and LDL cholesterol (the so-called "bad cholesterol").
As if this were not enough, the above results in terms of weight reduction is achieved without apparent side effects as the ones described by the participants who lost weight did not differ materially from those described by those taking the placebo.
From Adelgazar.net, as usual, we recommend being cautious when assessing this information, on the other hand, comes from a reliable source. The researchers recommend larger studies on the extract, and we can not be less. Too often spectacular results have been announced in the fight against obesity, but then saw that the optimism was exaggerated and sometimes even free. Hopefully in this case it is not.
